The Temptation: A Gabriel Knight Interlude

The Temptation: A Gabriel Knight Interlude is a short prose story written by Jane Jensen. It was made available online to celebrate the upcoming release of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers – 20th Anniversary Edition in 2013.

The story in The Temptation: A Gabriel Knight Interlude takes place six months after the events in the third Gabriel Knights game. The plot revolves around Gabriel´s pursuit of a mysterious cloaked figure in the wood, someone who is said to be a “seeleesser”. In German, Seele means soul and Esser means eater. While trying to capture the figure, Gabriel reflects on recent events and Grace´s departure. He speculates that maybe he has already reached his peak as a shadow hunter, as he is now 36 years old and has completed three major quests. In a vision, the spectre of Von Glower from The Beast Within fuels Knight´s misgivings and tells him to return to his previous easy life where he had no shadow hunting responsibilities and didn´t need to put himself in harms way.

The whole story is 12 pages long and can be downloaded for free.
